Having decided once to change the gray carpet in the office-workshop, the authors of this masterpiece used a very unconventional material: bottle caps.
It would be fair to say: the result is amazing with its colorful and pleasant geometric pattern, which at the same time combines modern small prints on metal covers and old large Mediterranean motifs.
- Bottle caps in various colors (collected with the help of friends, relatives and friendly bar employees)
- Tile adhesive and black mortar MAPEI Ultracolor Plus FA 10-lb Black Unsanded
- Rugged Urethane Varnish
As the main cladding material, a collection of caps from beer bottles and soda was used, which was helped by friends and relatives who learned about the upcoming project.
Almost all lids were first flattened with a hammer and filled with tile mortar so that the floor would be solid and stable when finished.
In the center of the project, the authors decided to put a star. After several trials, the desired shape was found! The granddaughter of the master tried to photograph every step of the creative process in the photo.
The central drawing was reinforced with a lath, and soon work began on permanently installing the covers using glue.
The mosaic pattern was duplicated on the opposite side, the remaining covers were lined around the central pattern. The finished composition is cemented with a black solution that filled all the gaps between the lids and covered with 6 layers of urethane varnish.
At the door there are small "mats". It is difficult to distinguish in these photos, but at the door of the built-in wardrobe there is also a “rug” with a white and red star.
The result exceeded all expectations! Such a beautiful mosaic floor inspires creativity in the workshop, and the next art project is being started.
